1. Who we are
As I Wait is a mobile game and website made by Rogue Treasure ("we", "us", "our"). Rogue Treasure is responsible for the information described in this policy, which in some laws is called the "data controller" or "data fiduciary".
This policy covers the As I Wait app on Android and iOS (the "App") and the website asiwait.com (the "Site"). If you have any questions, email us at main@asiwait.com.
2. What stays on your device
As I Wait is built to work offline. Everything the App needs to remember is saved only in the App's private storage on your phone or tablet. This includes:
- your game history and how often you've played each game,
- progress inside games (for example, which puzzle or level you reached),
- rewards you've unlocked,
- your settings, such as sound and how-to-play tips,
- sketches you draw in the drawing games.
We can't see any of this, and it is never uploaded to us. If you delete the App, this data is deleted with it. A sketch is copied to your photo gallery only when you tap Save. After that it belongs to your gallery, and you manage it there.
Your device's own backup service (such as Google or iCloud backup) may include App data in device backups, depending on your device settings. Those backups are handled by Google or Apple under your account with them, not by us.
3. Duel mode
Duel mode is played by two people sharing one device. It doesn't use Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, local networks or the internet to connect players. Nothing about either player is collected, and no names, scores or results are sent anywhere.
4. What can leave your device
Crash reports (Android)
The Android App includes Firebase Crashlytics, a service from Google. If the App crashes, it may send a crash report so we can find and fix the problem. A report typically contains:
- device model, operating system version and available memory or storage,
- App version and technical details of the error (a "stack trace"),
- the time of the crash,
- a random identifier for the App installation, so repeated crashes can be grouped together.
It doesn't include your name, email, contacts, location, photos, sketches or anything you typed. We use crash reports only to fix bugs and keep the App stable.
Update check
When your device is online, the App asks the Google Play Store (or the Apple App Store on iPhone and iPad) whether a newer version is available. The request includes the App's store ID and your device's country or language so the right store page is checked. As with any internet request, the store can see your device's IP address. We don't receive this information.
Links you choose to open
Links in the App, such as our website, Instagram, Reddit, Facebook and store pages, open in your browser or in that service's app. What happens there is covered by that service's own privacy policy.
5. When you contact us
If you email us at main@asiwait.com or message us on social media, we receive your email address or username and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use this only to reply to you, help with your question and improve the App. We don't add you to a mailing list. Please don't send us sensitive personal information we haven't asked for.
6. Permissions the App uses
- Internet: for the update check and crash reports. You don't need it to play.
- Save to photo library (iPhone/iPad) or storage (Android 9 and older only): only to save a sketch when you tap Save. The App never reads your existing photos.
- Vibration: for haptic feedback while you play.
The App doesn't access your location, contacts, camera, microphone, calendar, or any other app's data. You can review or turn off permissions at any time in your device settings. If you turn off photo access, everything still works except saving sketches.
7. Service providers
We use a small number of outside services. Each one handles information only as described below.

8. Why we're allowed to use this information
Some privacy laws, such as the GDPR, require us to explain the legal reason for using information:
- Crash reports: our legitimate interest in keeping the App stable and fixing bugs, which has very little impact on your privacy.
- Update check: our legitimate interest in making sure you have the latest, most secure version.
- Emails you send us: to respond to your request, and our legitimate interest in supporting players.
- Website logs and fonts: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we process the small amount of personal data described here for these specific, legitimate uses. Where the law requires your consent, we'll ask for it first.
9. What we don't do
- We don't show ads or use advertising IDs.
- We don't use analytics to track how you use the App.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't build profiles about you or make automated decisions about you.
- We don't sell, rent or share personal information for advertising.
10. How long we keep information
- Data on your device: until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Crash reports: kept by Firebase for a limited period (currently around 90 days) and then deleted automatically.
- Emails: as long as needed to deal with your message, then deleted, usually within 12 months, unless we need to keep them longer for legal reasons.
- Website server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period for security.
11. International transfers
Our service providers, such as Google, may process information on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where this happens, they use safeguards required by law, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect it.
12. App stores
You download As I Wait through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Those stores may collect information about your download, device and account under their own terms and privacy policies. We don't control that, and we don't receive your personal details from them. Google and Apple may share anonymous, combined statistics with us, such as how many devices installed the App.
13. Our website
asiwait.com doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. When you visit:
- Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, date and time, and the page requested) to deliver the Site and keep it secure.
- The font we use is loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers.
- If you play the mini-game on the Site, your best score is saved in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your browser, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Because we don't track you, the Site works the same whether or not your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal.
14. Children
As I Wait is a casual game suitable for everyone. It doesn't ask anyone, children included, for personal information, doesn't show ads, and has no chat or social features. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country, such as 18 under India's DPDP Act). If you're a parent or guardian and think a child has sent us personal information, for example by email, contact us and we'll delete it.
15. Your choices and rights
Because your game data stays on your device, you're always in control: you can clear it at any time by deleting the App.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including the right to:
- know what personal data we hold about you and get a copy,
- correct inaccurate data,
- have your data deleted,
- object to or restrict how we use it,
- withdraw consent, where we rely on it,
- nominate someone to act for you (under India's DPDP Act),
- complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Data Protection Board of India or an EU/UK supervisory authority.
We hold very little personal data, but to make a request, email main@asiwait.com. We may need to check your identity first. We won't treat you differently for using your rights.
California and other US state residents
We don't sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar state laws, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
16. Security
Keeping data on your device and collecting as little as possible is our main safeguard. Crash reports and update checks use encrypted connections, and access to our service accounts is limited and protected. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect any information we handle. If a data breach affects you, we'll notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
17. Grievance contact
If you have a concern or complaint about how your information is handled, contact our grievance contact at main@asiwait.com with the subject line "Privacy". We'll acknowledge your message and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the data protection authority in your country.
18. Changes to this policy
If the App or this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, for example if the App starts collecting new kinds of data, we'll make it clear in the App or on this Site before it takes effect, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
